The Garden

Sorry for the lack of posts this month. I have been preoccupied with the planting of a vegetable garden. I have a large property but only enough sun to plant a small herb garden so when chatting one day with my friend Geraldine we decided to create a garden on her property which is drenched with sun all day long. We started from scratch by digging out a patch that is approximately 15 x 8 feet. We ordered a large bag of triple mix soil to top up the patch and ensure that we had soil with some nutrient content. We then planted!
Geri and I can't take all the credit for the digging. Connor and Chloe were a great help as well. Loic and his cousin Killian also pitched in. Lea was our water girl and continues to water the garden regularly. It is wonderful getting the kids involved.

In another area of the yard there was an herb garden as well so we also cleaned it up and planted some additional herbs and onions. There is not much sun on this garden but we will hope for the best.

This year we will simply experiment and hope for the best as it is a first attempt at gardening for the both of us. We look forward to the future harvest.
We have planted rhubarb, strawberries, radishes, carrots, celery, fennel, hot peppers, bell peppers, San Marzano tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, green beans, snow peas, beets, several types of lettuce, cucumber, eggplant, cantaloupe and onions. In the herb garden we have thyme, tarragon, parsley, sage, chives and oregano.

Stay tuned for recipes from the garden.
